Caring for a sourdough loaf at home
A good sourdough loaf stays fresh for several days if it is stored well. Keep it in a cloth bag or a bread box, cut side down on the board.
Avoid the fridge: bread goes stale faster there. If you will not finish a loaf within three or four days, slice it and freeze it, then toast slices straight from the freezer.
A stale loaf is not wasted. It makes excellent croutons, bread pudding and the base for a summer salad.
